Hello everyone!  Welcome to my blog.  I do not claim to be a writer in any sense of the word, but I hope that you enjoy reading my entries.

I grew up on a small farm in Northwest Montana, as far north as you can get without going into Canada.  The place that I grew up is only 3 miles from the Canadian Border.   My parents were “Self Sufficient” before self sufficient became a trend.  We raised or grew the majority of our food.  We had beef and a family milk cow, goats, rabbits, chickens and every year a pig or two.  There was a rather large garden every year that provided fresh produce throughout the growing season, and enough to preserve for the winter months.  At the time, I would never have thought that I would look back with fondness at the many many times that I had to do chores while my friends were at the beach or other fun activity.

I didn’t start my college career in the field of agriculture, but after the first year of college, I quickly changed my major to agriculture.  I was a Junior at Montana  State University when I meet my husband of 15 years.  Simon was managing a sheep/beef operation in Eastern Montana where my cousin was working.  We meet and as the saying goes, the rest is history.  Simon and I have two wonderful boys, Will and Alex.

We currently own and operate a dairy related service business in Northeast Wisconsin.  I am also the Office Manager at one of the local dairies.  Simon and I, along with Will and Alex, have a small beef and sheep operation, and a few pigs that we raise. It is mainly a 4H Project that has gone astray.

I am very passionate about promoting agriculture as a whole.  I truly believe that agriculture needs to stand together as a united voice and start communicating with the consumers.  Unfortunately, we as an industry, have lost some of the trust that consumers had in us to provide their family’s food.  We need to open the lines of communication and start to gain that trust back.  I hope that through this blog, my family can start to gain your trust back.
